Faith Baisden

In September, we said goodbye to a long-standing Living Languages Board Member and First Languages Australia Manager, Faith Baisden, who has served on our Board since 2018 and has been instrumental to many positive changes and developments at our organisation.

We would like to send our immense gratitude and best wishes to Faith as she retires and departs from our Board after three years.

Thank you to Robert McLellan, our Board Chairperson, for his farewell message:

"As she finishes her time with Living Languages, the Board extend best wishes and good spirits to our wonderful colleague and friend, Faith Baisden.

Faith has been a valuable Director on our Board since 2018 and within that time she has contributed immensely to the strategic growth and many successes our organisation has had.

Faith has been instrumental within the organisation’s recent Indigenisation of our governance and representational leadership models.

I would like to also acknowledge Faith’s dedication to Indigenous languages in Australia and globally, and particularly pay homage to the significant contribution she has made towards establishing the Peak Body for Indigenous Languages in Australia and a valued partner of ours, First Languages Australia.

Thank you, Faith. We will miss your contribution to Living Languages, though sincerely trust you will continue to inspire Language work into the future.

Faith, thank you for your enormous contribution and service to Living Languages over the last few years. We wish you all the best for your much-deserved retirement and next steps in the future!
